The Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, Jim O’Callaghan has published the Criminal Assets Bureau’s 29th Annual Report covering the calendar year 2024.

This report sets out the activities of the Bureau throughout the year 2024 in compliance with its statutory obligations in targeting the proceeds of crime. The majority of these actions are related to the proceeds of drug trafficking, burglary and money laundering.

Notwithstanding this, the Bureau will consider an investigation into any criminal conduct which involves the acquisition of wealth. The aim of which is to ‘deny and deprive’.

The provisions in the new Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill 2024 and the new Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2024 are particularly welcome and will greatly enhance the way in which the Bureau carries out its statutory remit.

Our Chief Bureau Officer Michael Gubbins wishes to especially acknowledge the support and dedication of personnel from all four agencies, some of whom can never be named as their identity is protected by statutory anonymity, our Divisional Assets Profilers across the country, the solicitors and staff at the Criminal Assets Section allocated by the Chief State Solicitors Office, our colleagues both nationally and internationally, and you, the public, who provide us with some of our most beneficial Good Citizens Reports. Your contributions have been steadfast in our many successes to date.

The report in both English and Irish is available for access on www.cab.ie
