The Criminal Assets Bureau conducted a search operation in Galway and Limerick this morning, Tuesday 23 November 2021 involving six separate residential searches, along with a professional search.

Over 60 personnel were involved in today’s operation which included Bureau Officers, supported by the Galway Divisional Drug Unit, the Regional Armed Support Unit, the Garda Dog Unit and the Customs Dog Unit.

The search operation targeted an Organised Crime Gang involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Galway region and was conducted as part of an on-going CAB investigation, which commenced following a referral to the Criminal Assets Bureau by a profiler attached to the Galway Divisional Drug Unit.

To date the investigation has resulted in the seizure of €18,680 in cash, two Rolex watches and €66,000 in funds restrained in a bank account. The operation this morning targeted assets including properties accumulated by members of the OCG and the following additional items were seized:

  • €22,000 cash.
  • £4,450 Sterling.
  • A 191 Audi A6
  • Assorted designer goods.
  • €17,000 identified and restrained in accounts.

This morning’s operation marks a significant development in the Criminal Assets Bureau investigation in to assets acquired by members of the OCG from the proceeds of crime.
