The Criminal Assets Bureau conducted a search operation in Counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Westmeath and Cork this morning, Thursday 18 May 2023. The search operation was conducted by Bureau Officers, supported by the Regional Armed Support Unit, Gardaí attached to Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Cork and Westmeath and the Customs Dog Unit. This morning’s operation involved in excess of seventy personnel at thirteen different locations across the West of the country.
Today’s operation resulted in the seizure of the following:
- €59,000 cash
- Cannabis to an estimated value of €2,000
- Documentation and electronic devices
One person was arrested during the course of this operation for an offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977/84 as amended. The search operation conducted this morning marks significant progress in an on-going proceeds of crime investigation targeting multiple properties and land believed to be acquired with the proceeds of crime. The investigation remains on-going.
